SJ Berwin

The Challenge

In order to survive in a competitive market, SJ Berwin needed to focus partners’ attention on talent management and employee engagement. In doing this, partners would be able to develop high performing teams and sustained high performance. The war for talent is a hot topic in the legal sector but is not simply a matter of recruitment; it is also a critical factor in a firm’s ability to achieve future growth strategies. In a challenging climate, leaders need to balance their roles as both practitioners and managers. Succeeding in the legal sector is not just about being the best lawyer; it’s about having the best people leading their teams effectively.

Lane4 Approach

The ‘Good to Great’ Programme was designed to encourage and develop a coaching based approach to leadership and the development of high performing teams. Lane4’s challenge was to engage with the senior leadership group, including key leaders of the business as well as practice heads, to develop a programme tailored to the firm’s specific requirements. In partnership with SJ Berwin, Lane4 designed ‘Good to Great’ to develop a learning culture through tackling partners’ current leadership behaviours and raising personal awareness. Dynamic and thought-provoking workshops were vital to bring content alive and enable ideas and learning to be practically applied.
