Lane4's Annual Conference 2011: Delivering When it Counts...

Lane4's seventh Annual Conference took place on 2 November 2011 at Vinopolis. Delivering When it Counts explored how organisations can develop an environment where their people can step up and perform at the most critical moments.
With the London Olympics almost upon us, years of preparation for thousands of people will reach a pinnacle. Whether athletes, organisers, business leaders or middle managers, we all face the pressure to deliver when it counts.
Sessions included:
- Dido Harding (CEO, TalkTalk) - A Brighter Place for Everyone. Dido reflected on her own personal experience of delivering when it counts and shared how TalkTalk's long-term business strategy aims to deliver a brighter place for customers and employees alike.
- Captain Kevin Ivison (Former Bomb Disposal Operator) - From the Frontline. In 2006, Kevin was awarded the George Medal for defusing a bomb under fire in Iraq. His moving and uplifting story of bravery, luck and heroism explored the mental strength required to do the most difficult job under almost imaginable pressure.
- Junior Simpson (Comedian) - Stand-up and Deliver. Junior went under the spotlight to share what it takes to perform in the harsh world of stand-up comedy.
- Baroness Sue Campbell (Chair, UK Sport) Chris Earle (Director of Sport, Loughborough University) and Dominic Mahony (Team Manager, GB Modern Pentathlon and Client Services Director, Lane4) - Creating an Environment where Champions are Inevitable. Our panellists shared the final preparations that are underway to ensure Team GB delivers when it counts.
- Dr Alison Mowbray (Senior Consultant, Lane4) and Clare Strange (Associate Consultant, Lane4) - Going with the Flow. Athletes often describe experiencing a sense of 'flow' when performing at their best. During this interactive session Alison and Clare demonstrated how flow can be accessed and the impact it can have on performance.
