Where has your passion for performance come from?
I’ve always strived to do the best that I can, whether in sport, at school or in any other part of my life. My drive comes from wanting a sense of achievement and continual improvement, as well as absolute enjoyment for what I’m doing.
Who is your leadership role model and why?
There are many people who have impacted me at different times in my life - from coaches, teachers, colleagues and managers to friends and family. I regularly draw inspiration, guidance and focus from them and it shapes who I am today and will be in the future.
What is your Lane4 career highlight?
A particular highlight was seeing a delegate on a management development programme progress to fulfil her potential. Previously she was putting obstacles in the way of moving into a new internal role because she didn’t have strong belief in herself. I was with her when she got the call to say she’d got the job. It was such a proud moment for me and a fully deserved promotion for her.
What do you think gives managers and their teams the winning edge?
Having honest conversations, however difficult it can be at times, and focusing on the bigger picture. As a Manager, realising that you don’t need to have all the answers and be willing and open to finding them in others. Continually reviewing performance and learning from things that don’t go well, as well as from successes. Allowing people to take a risk at times and try new ideas.
