Graham is a renowned performance psychologist and business performance specialist who has published extensive research in the fields of Leadership, Mental Toughness and High Performance in sport and business. His approach to people and organizational development is drawn from his accomplished academic background and vast experience of consulting with the highest performers. He works with individuals and teams by building on strengths and opening up opportunities and possibilities through challenging self-limiting mindsets.

 

Coaching

Graham coaches at the most senior executive level, including working with Global Heads, CEOs, Managing Directors, and Board Members across a wide range of sectors. He has worked on a 1:1 basis with high profile performers in both the commercial and sporting worlds. Graham's focus is on Real Leadership and Mental Toughness, exploring the challenges faced by leaders, including the visibility and exposure that a leadership role involves.

Leadership and Team Development

Alongside senior executive coaching, Graham leads the implementation of international Leadership Programs. From developing the top 100 senior leaders at a global manufacturing company, to aligning two merging teams in the FMCG industry, Graham works with individuals and teams to move from Good to Great. He also works with teams that are either in crisis or under performing to develop the necessary skill set to thrive in pressurized situations. He has worked with teams at all levels of business to define and clarify purpose and develop productive relationships. He has a particular interest and experience in working with leaders transitioning into challenging new roles and also teams with new leaders.

Organizational Development

Working across a range of industries and sectors, Graham is experienced at identifying the human capital risks associated with organizational change in order to ease transition periods. He has worked with the European and US teams of a global utilities company to support them through a change process which included the merger of two companies. In close partnership with the senior team at a global pharmaceutical company, Graham has designed and delivered a change program aimed at creating and embedding a coaching culture across borders. He has also worked with a leading manufacturing and distribution company during a period of reinvention into a new market place.

Research and Published Material

Graham's research into high performance is widely published and he is the author of three books. Most recently he co-authored Developing Mental Toughness: Gold Medal Strategies for Enhancing Your Business Performance with his Lane4's co-founder Adrian Moorhouse. He is regularly called upon for comment in the media on topics such as 'Real' Leadership, Thriving Under Pressure, Coaching High Achievers, Stress Survival Strategies, High Performing Teams and High Performance Environments. In June 2008 his article 'How the Best Get Better and Better' was published in the Harvard Business Review.

Background

Graham was first involved with high performance sport at a junior level, playing international field hockey and cricket for Wales. In 1986, Graham received a Ph.D. in Performance Psychology from the University of Wales, Bangor. During his time as a University academic, Graham worked as a psychologist to numerous elite performers including World Champions and Olympic Medal winners.

Professor Graham Jones experience of consulting with top level performers spans more than 20 years and includes working closely with Olympic and World Champions from a variety of sports, elite military fighting force personnel, and senior leaders and their teams in FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies. .

Graham has more than 150 publications in the area of top level performance. These include several books, numerous ground-breaking studies in scientific journals, and applied articles that demystify and unravel complex concepts and theories in human performance psychology, making them easily applicable in the workplace. His recent publications include an article, 'How the Best of the Best Get Better and Better' published in Harvard Business Review, and his fourth book, Thrive On Pressure: Lead and Succeed When Times Get Tough, published by McGraw-Hill..

Graham is married and has three children and four grandchildren. He enjoys traveling, skiing, running and playing golf.
