Resilience is something anyone in a high-pressure career should develop. Adrian Moorhouse uses theories he developed as an athlete to run Lane4. "Resilience is easier to understand when broken down into its main components: self-belief, motivation, maintaining focus and handling pressure," he says, adding that the peculiarly British trait of self-deprecation can be a factor in sending a career into tailspin. "Our national default is to undermine our talents. Remembering what you've achieved, even apparently insignificant details, is important to regaining motivation."
