Where has your passion for performance come from?
Some of my earliest childhood memories come from the world of sport; watching Jonny Wilkinson kick England to World Cup victory in 2003, the disbelief on Kelly Holmes' face as she won double Olympic gold in 2004 and the drama of the Ashes in 2005. Watching such iconic moments, and trying to replicate them in my own sporting ventures, ignited my desire to understand how we improve each and every element of performance.
What gives organisations the winning edge?
In my opinion, organisational resilience is at the heart of ‘winning’ and encompasses two dimensions. Organisations must be able to ‘bounce back’ from adversity, much like Netflix did after losing 800,000 subscribers in late 2011. Organisations must also be capable of ‘winning after winning’ by identifying and mitigating threats to their success. By continually innovating and staying alert to changes in their market, organisations are more likely to win, and win for longer.
